Origins
Originating from southern Europe, North Africa and
Asia Minor.

Shape
The chestnut is a big tree (up to 30 m tall) and
a perennial. It flowers in June-July. The leaves turn
yellow then dark brown in autumn. The fruit, called
chestnuts, are edible.

Use
With a rough dark brown bark, its wood is used in
structures, barrel making and interior joinery (furniture,
floors, cladding, panelling).
